Our Impact
True empowerment comes from the ability to earn a living and build a better future. Our livelihood training program has been a catalyst for change, enabling 15 refugees and 2 Ugandan nationals to start their own small businesses. These entrepreneurs have turned their skills into a daily source of income, ranging from tailoring to small-scale trade. We provide mentorship and support that helps them navigate the challenges of starting a business, ensuring they have the confidence and tools to succeed. Their success stories ripple through their communities, creating a powerful example of what can be achieved with a little training and a lot of determination.
Food security is a cornerstone of a healthy and stable community. Through our hands-on training, 96 local farmers have established flourishing kitchen gardens at their households. This initiative moves beyond providing temporary relief; it equips families with the knowledge and skills to grow their own food sustainably. These gardens are now a reliable source of fresh, nutritious produce, reducing household food costs and improving the health of families in the community. Our training on organic farming and resource management ensures that these gardens continue to thrive, season after season.
Our Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) program provides more than just financial training; it builds resilient communities. We are proud to report that 1,125 refugees and host community members are still successfully running their VSLAs, two years after completing our training. This sustained success is a testament to the strong foundations we built together. By creating a self-managed system for saving and lending, these groups have achieved a remarkable level of financial self-sufficiency. They are not only saving money but also pooling resources to fund small-scale projects, invest in their children's education, and provide a vital safety net for their families.
